GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 is already shaping up to be a strong weekend for families who love fandom but may still be deciding if a comic con is right for them. The guest list is packed, but what makes it exciting is not just the number of names. It is how many different fandoms are represented.
This is the kind of lineup where everyone in the family can probably find something to get excited about. One family member may be there for Star Trek. Another may care more about Twilight, anime, Superman, The Walking Dead, Star Wars, The Muppets, Gilmore Girls, comics, cosplay, or wrestling. That variety is one of the biggest reasons GalaxyCon New Orleans works so well as a family convention.
And based on our experience last year, GalaxyCon New Orleans also understands how important layout is. The guest areas were well organized, with enough room to move around and enjoy the celebrity area even if you were not buying every autograph or photo op. For families watching their budget, that matters. Also, almost every guest will be on a panel, so you still have an opportunity to ask a question. You could still see favorite guests, feel the excitement, and be part of the fandom atmosphere without feeling like every moment had to cost extra.
A Guest List Full of Fandom Connections
For classic sci-fi fans, William Shatner is scheduled to appear Friday and Saturday. Seeing Captain Kirk in New Orleans is the kind of cross-generational convention moment that can mean something to parents, grandparents, and younger fans discovering Star Trek for the first time.
Star Wars fans also have plenty to look forward to. Author Timothy Zahn is scheduled for all three days, signing and selling his beloved books, and several Star Wars fan groups are expected to attend, including the 501st Legion Bast Alpha Garrison, Rebel Legion Dagobah Base, Mando Mercs Veshok Clan, South Central Droid Builders, and May The 4th Be With You – Louisiana. These groups are often some of the most family-friendly parts of a con because they bring the galaxy far, far away to life through costumes, props, droids, and photo opportunities.
Superhero fans can look for Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch from Superman & Lois, along with Sean Gunn, Lou Ferrigno, and a deep roster of comic creators including Mark Waid, Steve Englehart, Alyssa Wong, Ron Marz, Amy Chu, Dan Watters, and more. For kids who love superheroes, creator areas can be especially fun because they show how comics are actually made.
If Gilmore Girls is more your speed, you are in luck, as Sean Gunn and Sean Patterson will be there. This will be one of our major meets.
The Twilight fandom will have a major presence with Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone scheduled for all three days. That makes this a great year for fans who grew up with the series or are now sharing it with their teens.
Fans of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse can look forward to Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Brian O’Halloran, and Jeff Anderson. Meanwhile, TV fans will find names like Chandler Riggs and Michael Cudlitz from The Walking Dead, and Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf.
There is also a strong family-nostalgia corner, with puppetry legends Steve Whitmire, Kevin Clash, and Chris Bartlett appearing all three days. For families, guests like these connect directly to childhood memories, creativity, and the art behind beloved characters.
Anime, Theater, Cosplay, and More
GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 is not just about screen actors. Anime and animation fans can look forward to voice actors such as Cristina Vee, Erica Lindbeck, Monica Rial, Sarah Natochenny, Brittney Karbowski, Jamie Marchi, Dana Snyder, and Janet Varney.
Cosplay guests, local fan groups, entertainers, tattoo artists, authentication services, and pro wrestlers like Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Gangrel help round out the weekend. These areas often create some of the best moments for families because they are interactive, visual, and easy to enjoy even without a packed schedule.
Why This Matters for Families
If you are new to conventions, it is easy to assume the main point is paying for autographs and photo ops. Those can be amazing, but they are only one part of the experience.
Last year, one of the things we appreciated about GalaxyCon New Orleans was that the celebrity area felt accessible. There was room to walk, look, and enjoy the energy of the guest area. That matters if you have kids, a stroller, mobility concerns, or a family member who gets overwhelmed in tight crowds.
It also matters financially. Families may choose one paid experience and spend the rest of the day exploring panels, cosplay, fan groups, vendors, artists, and displays. A good con day does not have to be built entirely around spending extra money.
A Quick Reminder About Guest Changes
As with any convention, guest appearances can change. Current cancellations include Michael Rooker, Michael Jai White, Lilli Cooper, Ron Wilson, Liana Kangas, and Larry Hama. If your family is planning around a specific guest, always check GalaxyCon’s official schedule before the event.
Is GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 Worth Considering?
For families still on the fence, the GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 guest lineup makes a strong case. It brings together classic sci-fi, Star Wars, superheroes, Twilight, anime, musical theater, comics, puppetry, wrestling, cosplay, and local fan groups in one place.
That variety is what makes it family-friendly. Everyone can find their own reason to be excited, and then discover new fandoms together.
If last year’s thoughtful guest area layout carries into 2026, GalaxyCon New Orleans should be a welcoming option even for families who are not planning to spend heavily on autographs or photo ops. Sometimes just walking into a room full of stories, costumes, creators, and fans is enough to make the trip worth it.
