About Mr. Nola Nerd

The hardest thing about being a blogger is writing about your self. Writing about other things is usually where you truly show your self. However, you should know a little bit about us I guess. So this is about me, about Mr. Nola Nerd.

Frankly, I’m a ball of contradictions.

I’m a homebody that has wanderlust.  For me, going out is torture but I hate staying in.  I’m a teacher that abhors being in front of a crowd.

Exploring Chicago in a Day meant claiming the Iron Throne

I love to cook, travel, and eat. In fact, our first website was called CookTravelEat.com.

I collect vinyl records and obsess over music.

Actually, I rather be reading a book instead of writing this.

Also, I would move to Edinburgh or Florence in an instant.  I can sit in a movie theater all day and watch movies (and, yes, I would pay for each one). I enjoy everything about comic cons but the crowds, so I suffer through them.

I’m a history major who became a computer science teacher.

I have a supportive wife who has become my rock.  I have palindromic rheumatism, which is a form of rheumatoid arthritis  Some days I can move fine, other days my joints feel as if they are being torn apart.

For NolaNerdCouple.com, I write a most of the blog posts and do most of the technical work for the site. This is a labor of love for us, and I enjoy making it work. My favorite topics to write about are music, Star Wars, comic cons, and, of course, the Nola Nerd Baby.

  2. Thanks for visiting and following. I LOVE meeting new people through my blog. We are kindred spirits…arthhritis, love collecting things, travelling. I’m looking forward to reading your posts. Cheers.

  3. Hi, Kurt, thanks for the follow. What do you teach? I’m sorry to hear about the arthritis. Tht is really really rough. If you like watching the Wire, have you read the book, Homicide? It’s great. Also you might like Circle of Six.

    1. No, I need to read the book. I’m writing a blog about the arthritis and how it changed, but didn’t limit me. I teach high school AP Computer Science…I’m self taught that it self has been an adventure. My wife teaches, at the moment, civics and free enterprise.
