About Mrs. Nola Nerd

On Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy

Welcome to our little blog! So this is all about Mrs. Nola Nerd, a 30ish year old nerd who loves traveling, food, Star Wars, The Legend of Zelda, vinyl, autographs, Third Man Records, and all kinds of other nerdy stuff. My love of travel and food stems from my family. Our little unit of mom, dad, two sisters, and me continuously moved throughout the state/country/world.

By the time I reached high school, I had lived in Ohio, California, Australia, and Louisiana! Our hearts belonged in Louisiana, however. That’s the state in which we lived the longest. Still, we moved often inside of Louisiana allowing me to experience the entire greater New Orleans area.

My family moved yet again to Florida when I went to college. Therefore, I stayed behind and received my diploma and found a job teaching at a wonderful high school.

My father, Italian chef (born and raised in Italy), made sure we always had delicious home-cooked food to eat. No boring hamburger helper for this girl!

My husband, who is not as great of cook as my dad, isn’t too bad as a cook! Still no boring hamburger helper!

The year 2005 was a tragic one for many reasons, including the giant hurricane that swept through our fair city and almost decimated it. I also lost my father to lung cancer.

However, hurricane allowed me to meet the love of my life, Mr. Nola Nerd. I was immediately drawn to him. However, it took us ages to realize just how deep our affection for each other ran. As we grow together, we have increasingly found how intense our mutual love of all things nerdy is.

Exploring Chicago in a Day meant claiming the Iron Throne

Our intention, with this modest little blog, is to take you along on our journeys, so you can experience them with us, gain some insight on something you’ve been dying to try, discover a new and exciting idea, or just smile at our sometimes crazy happenings.

My travel goals are to eventually hit all 7 continents (3 down, 4 to go), visit all 50 states and take a picture by every state sign, experience as many 1000 Places to See Before You Die as possible, visit as many countries as possible, and basically, just live life to the fullest.

I’m so blessed to have found the perfect soul mate to accompany me on my never-ending journeys.

And in Feburary 2018, we embarked upon the ultimate journey – parenthood. That’s when I perfect little girl was born and we technically became the Nola Nerd Trio!
