If you read the blog, then you know that Star Wars is our #1 fandom. But did you know that we like other fandoms too? Crazy, I know! Two of our favorite fandoms will be at Pensacon 2019! Doctor Who and Harry Potter are two other huge franchises that we love and Pensacon has some great guests for both of those as well. (Star Wars coverage at Pensacon is here.)
Not one, but TWO Doctors will be appearing at Pensacon! The fifth and sixth Doctor, Peter Davison and Colin Baker, will both be in attendance. We have met both Doctors already and they were both super nice. We have a TARDIS poster that we get Doctors and companions to sign, so they were highly sought after. As a fun fact, Peter Davison is Georgia Moffett’s father, who played the Doctor’s daughter, who then went on to marry David Tennant who is the tenth Doctor! Awww…
The Mr.’s favorite Doctor’s companion, Donna Noble, portrayed by the awesome Catherine Tate, is scheduled to appear as well. We met her in May and she blew us away in terms of niceness and sincerity. It didn’t hurt that she thought Miss Nola Nerd Baby was the cutest thing. We hope to meet her again this time and show her how much Miss Nerd Baby has grown. Hopefully she stays awake this time, as she slept through the entire encounter with Ms. Tate last time. But since it will be Miss Nerd Baby’s first birthday, we think she’ll be excited and alert enough to enjoy everyone! Additionally, we are thinking about starting a poster for The Office and she would be our first addition as Nellie Bertram.
You can’t really call the next guest a companion (even though she did sign our poster) because she is so much more. Alex Kingston, the infamous River Song, never officially traveled with the Doctor, but appeared in many eleventh Doctor episodes, was first introduced with the tenth Doctor, and received a proper goodbye with the twelfth. We love her energy and spirit and always get excited when we see her pop up on other shows (like Laurel and Sara’s mom on Arrow).
A recently added Pensacon addition is Michelle Gomez, who played the Doctor’s arch-nemesis Missy during twelfth’s time. We have not met her yet and are super excited to add her to our collection. We think we’ll add her to our poster because even though she is not a companion, she is an integral part in the Doctor’s life. Besides, Michelle Gomez killed it as the female incarnation of the Master, so we cannot wait to meet her and tell her how much we loved her character. We have not started watching it yet, but we can’t wait to see her as Mary Wardwell in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. (Unfortunately. she had to cancel).
If you are a comic book fan, artist Kelly Yates will also be in attendance. We met him at a previous Pensacon and had him sign a Four Doctors comic. He also does artwork on other Doctor Who products. I definitely suggest getting a print or two from him. In fact, make sure you pick some artwork from your favorite fandoms at Pensacon 2019!
Harry Potter has its fair share of guests as well. Luke Youngblood portrayed the energetic and Quidditch loving Lee Jordan. Additionally, Luke was on one of our favorite television shows, Community. He played the equally energetic Magnitude, with his unforgettable catchphrase, “POP-POP!” I definitely want him to sign two photos!
I am probably the most excited to meet Sean Biggerstaff, who played the dreamy Quidditch captain and keeper of the Gryffindor team, Oliver Wood. It was definitely a running joke in my family of three sisters to dreamily sigh whenever someone mentioned Oliver Wood thanks to Biggerstaff.
Chris Rankin plays everyone’s favorite Weasley, Percy (what, he’s not your favorite?!). He will be the first Weasley I will meet.
I am thinking of starting a Harry Potter poster and these three would be an awesome start to it.
Another fandom I love is LOST. I seriously need to rewatch it. I was obsessed with it when I came on television. Jeremy Davies, who played physicist Daniel Faraday will be attending Pensacon. I have not met anyone from LOST in quite a few years, so I am ecstatic to add him to my collection.
These, of course, are only a fraction of the guests we are excited about. There are even more guests from all different kinds of fandoms at Pensacon 2019. There are still so many more we want to meet! Good thing we have been saving for over a year! We knew that Pensacon was going to deliver the awesome.
Pensacon 2019 will take place from Friday, February 22 to Sunday, February 24, 2019. The primary convention venue, the Pensacola Bay Center, is where ticketing, celebrity autographs and photo ops, and the vendor floor will be located.
However, Pensacon takes over the entire downtown Pensacola area and uses the Pensacola Grand Hotel, the Saenger Theatre, the Rex Theatre, and the Pensacola Little Theatre.
Unfortunately, VIP passes are sold out, but there are still 3-Day passes and single day passes available. You can purchase them here!
