GalaxyCon New Orleans returns July 10–12, 2026, to the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and we’re excited to see it back on the calendar.
Last year’s event gave New Orleans something we always love to see: a big, indoor summer celebration of fandom. It brought together celebrities, creators, cosplayers, gamers, families, collectors, and fans of all ages in a way that felt fun, welcoming, and easy to enjoy.
We had a great time at GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025, even though we did not get to attend as much as we originally planned. What we did experience made us hope the event would return.
Now that it has, GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 is one of our summer highlights!
GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 Event Details
GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 will take place July 10–12, 2026, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Fans can expect a weekend filled with celebrity guests, comic creators, voice actors, anime programming, cosplay, gaming, vendors, panels, photo ops, autographs, family activities, fan groups, and After Dark events.
That mix is what makes GalaxyCon appealing. It is not just one kind of convention. It has something for longtime comic con attendees, casual fans, families, gamers, collectors, anime fans, and people who just want to spend a weekend surrounded by pop culture.
It is also a great way to beat the heat and humidity of a New Orleans summer.
Why We’re Excited for GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026
The biggest reason we’re excited to return is simple: GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025 felt like it belonged here.
New Orleans knows how to host a festival, and GalaxyCon brought that festival feeling indoors. In the middle of a Louisiana summer, that matters. It gave families and fans a fun place to gather, explore, and celebrate the things they love without having to battle the July heat.
Last year, the event felt energetic without being too overwhelming. There was plenty to do, but we never felt like there was only one “right” way to experience it. We could wander the floor, check out artists, spend time in the gaming area, visit the Family Zone, meet guests, or just enjoy the cosplay and atmosphere.
That kind of flexibility makes a convention much easier to enjoy, especially with kids.
A Great Summer Convention for Families
One of our favorite parts of GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025 was how family-friendly it felt.
The Family Zone gave younger fans a place to create, play, and take a break from the busier parts of the convention. Our daughter especially enjoyed the hands-on activities, LEGO building, art, and the chance to slow down without leaving the event.
That kind of space makes a huge difference. Conventions are exciting, but they can also be a lot for kids. Having an area designed with families in mind helped make the day more enjoyable for all of us.
We’re glad to see family programming returning for 2026, and it will definitely be one of our first stops.
The Arcade Was a Big Highlight
The arcade was another favorite from last year.
We spent a lot of time playing games, watching our daughter jump in, and enjoying the laid-back energy of that space. It added another layer to the convention beyond panels, autographs, and shopping.
For families, gamers, and anyone who wants a break from walking the floor, the arcade is a great feature. If it is anything like last year, we expect it to be one of the most popular spots again in 2026.
Celebrity Guests and Fan Moments
Celebrity guests are always a major part of a convention, and GalaxyCon New Orleans gave us some memorable interactions last year.
Phil LaMarr was kind, funny, and generous with his time. Joey Fatone made our daughter’s night by talking with her about & Juliet. Those quick conversations became some of our favorite memories from the event.
That is what makes conventions special. Sometimes the best moments are not the big scheduled ones. They are the small interactions that feel personal and genuine.
For 2026, GalaxyCon New Orleans has already announced guests from sci-fi, comics, horror, television, film, animation, wrestling, anime, and more. The lineup has a wide range of fandoms represented, which should make it easy for different members of the family to find someone or something they are excited about.
Here are couple of names to get excited about:
- William Shatner
- Kevin Smith
- Sam Raimi
- Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch
- Sean Gunn and & Scott Paterson.
- Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone
- Danny Glover
- Pam Grier
- Lou Diamond Phillips
- Edward James Olmos
And so many more from so many different fandoms.
Comics, Artists, and Creators
We always recommend spending time with the creators at conventions.
Artist Alley and creator spaces are often where you find some of the best conversations, coolest artwork, and most unique items to bring home. Last year, we enjoyed walking through the artist areas and discovering creators we might not have found otherwise.
GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 is expected to feature a strong group of comic creators, writers, artists, authors, and vendors. Whether you are looking for comics, prints, books, collectibles, handmade items, or original art, this is one area worth taking your time with.
I’m looking forward to meeting Mark Waid, Heather Antos, Amy Chu, and, as Star Wars nerds, the great Timothy Zahn.
It is easy to get caught up chasing panels and celebrity schedules, but some of the best convention memories happen when you slow down and explore the floor.
Cosplay, Fan Groups, and Community
Cosplay and fan groups help bring a convention to life.
Last year, GalaxyCon New Orleans had a fun mix of cosplayers, fan organizations, photo opportunities, and community groups. These spaces are especially great for families because they make the event feel interactive, even if you are not doing paid photo ops or autographs.
We love seeing kids light up when they spot a favorite character, a detailed costume, a droid, a superhero, or someone from a fandom they recognize. Fan groups often create some of the most welcoming and memorable moments at conventions.
We’re looking forward to seeing that energy return in 2026.
Anime, Gaming, and After Dark Events
GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 will also offer plenty for anime fans, gamers, and adults looking for evening entertainment.
Anime programming, voice actors, gaming areas, tournaments, themed events, and After Dark programming all help make GalaxyCon feel like more than a standard daytime convention. It gives attendees different ways to experience the weekend depending on what they enjoy most.
Families can focus on daytime activities. Collectors can explore the vendor floor. Anime fans can follow panels and voice actor events. Adults can check out the After Dark offerings. Gamers can spend time in the arcade.
That variety is one of GalaxyCon’s biggest strengths.
Tips for Attending GalaxyCon New Orleans With Kids
If you’re planning to attend GalaxyCon New Orleans 2026 with kids, here are a few tips based on our experience:
- Start with the Family Zone. It gives younger fans a place to settle in and reset.
- Plan time for the arcade. It was one of our daughter’s favorite parts of the event.
- Do not over-schedule. Pick a few must-do items and leave room to wander.
- Prepare for lines. Autographs, photo ops, and popular panels may require waiting.
- Explore the fan groups. They often create some of the best family-friendly moments.
- Take breaks. Even a fun convention can become overwhelming.
- Let your kid lead sometimes. Their favorite part may not be what you expected.
