Our day at Hollywood Studios was full of good food, impressive lands, and classic shows. We still enjoyed ourselves and found plenty of Hollywood Studios ride highlights. At the same time, we noticed how much the park’s personality has shifted over the years, and we came away missing some of that old school “movie studio” charm.

- One of the highlights was an unexpected human connection. We struck up a conversation with a cast member and discovered a hometown link, which instantly added a personal touch to an otherwise otherworldly setting.

How did you plan the park order for your trip?
We planned our visit to keep a good balance of energy and variety. We started with Magic Kingdom’s classics, explored EPCOT’s world showcase, spent a midweek day at Animal Kingdom, enjoyed the action at Hollywood Studios, and ended our trip back at EPCOT. If we were to do it again, we might skip the second Epcot day and have a resort day instead. But that is why we joined Disney Vacation Club: to have slower park days.
Did you use Lightning Lane?
Sort of. Out of the Lightning Lanes at DHS and Animal Kingdom, the only two our daughter expressed interest in were Midway Mania and Na’vi River Journey. For us, that wasn’t worth it. However, my sister bought it so my little one did Mania with her, and we just waited out the River Journey.
What advice would you give someone visiting these two parks midweek?
Midweek visits tend to be less crowded, which makes it easier to move around and explore without feeling rushed. It’s a good time to enjoy the parks at your own pace. However, if it were just my small family, I would have changed the order and done Animal Kingdom on Monday and Magic Kingdom on Wednesday. Most people start their Disney vacation on Monday, and most start at Magic Kingdom.
