Star Wars hosts it’s own convention for its legions of fans called Star Wars Celebration. Ms. Nola Nerd Couple has attended multiple Celebrations, and this will be my third. There is no set location for Celebration however they have been most often in either the Los Angeles area or Orlando with a few in Europe as well. In 2017, it will be in Orlando.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, 2015
This year Ms. Nola Nerd Couple attempted to buy a VIP badge but they were extremely limited and we weren’t one of the lucky few. We did buy each a four day pass, and since the our spring break is that weekend it makes it really easy for us to stay all four days.
There is not a lot of information out about the convention just yet due to it being in April. However, it usually has a actors from all over the Star Wars spectrum. In 2015, we got to meet Luke Hamill and Carrie Fisher, as well as Ian McDiarmid and Peter Mayhew. We also got to meet the entire Rebel’s cast before a single episode aired. We met Tim Rose who portrayed the body of General Akbar and Erik Bauersfeld who provided the voice. In other words, if they are associated with Star Wars, there might be a shot that they will be there. Of course, this requires the actors to be asked, to agree to appear, and/or have to be available that weekend (which happens to be Easter weekend?!?). We aren’t holding our breath to meet Ewan McGregor or Natalie Portman, but there still we be tons of actors there to meet.
I’m also hoping a few comic book writers and artists for the Star Wars comics make an appearance. We have collected all Star Wars comics since they have come out so it would be able to meet and thank this creators for their works. They do usually have a few authors their as well.
Star Wars Celebration will also have quite a bit of limited merchandise. By the time we could get to the store for the 2015 Celebration, they were sold out of shirts. We did get some cool Star Wars alphabet blocks for our niece.
Their will be a ton of merchandise for sale by Disney and comic con vendors. Their will be tattoo artists. Last time it was in Orlando, a guest had Mark Hamill sign her leg and then had a tattoo artist make it permanent. Talk about being a fanatic for Star Wars!!!
Of course, their will be panels. We didn’t actually attend any in 2015 because our time was filled with getting autographs. For the Orlando one, we did attend a panel that was about a comedic animated Star Wars series featuring Seth Green that never saw the light of day. However, George Lucas came out during the panel. I wish I would have taken a picture of Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple’s face when she recognized it was him.
Basically, Star Wars Celebration is must attend event for any Star Wars fan who can afford it!
Hope to you see you there, and may the force be with you!

Cristina will share her experience of Space City Comic Son in this blog. Kurt’s experience will come tomorrow, with an editorial the following day. Kurt and I had plans to attend MegaCon this year, but due to budgetary restraints, and the fact that we’re going to Wizard World Philadelphia next…
Creator Supreme Both my wife and I got into comic books late. Local comic shops didn’t exist where I grew up. However, for as long as I can remember I knew who Stan Lee was. His creations, well co-creations, are part of the consciousnesses of our country. Spider-man, the Fantastic…
Since we are both AP teachers, we have been a little preoccupied with getting our kids ready for the last couple of weeks. So a couple of quick thoughts before we pick up our regularly scheduled blogging/podcasting. I’m not impressed with episodes 2 and 3 of Game of Thrones. Pacing…
