Star Wars-ing: Go Behind the Scenes at Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration does an amazing job of having different stages for its panes.  Each stage focuses on a different theme such as the stars of the saga or education.  The Behind the Scene stage allows fans of the saga to learn what exactly goes into making our favorite movies and products related to the saga.  This stage is on the third floor in room W304.

Thursday

40 Year of Star Wars – This panel will be streamed from the Galaxy Stage. This is the huge panel hosted by Warwick Davis and stars Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm President. 11-12:30 pm

The Making of the Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia – The authors of this illustrated wonder will discuss what goes into making the book so special. 1-2pm

I’ll Take Droids for $500, Obi-Wan: An Intergalactic Game Show – Test your knowledge of the saga against two guys who know the galaxy as well as anyone – Star Wars authors Timothy Zahn and Chuck Windig.  One audience member will be selected to participate, while the rest of us will have to work on not shouting out answers! 2:30-3:30pm

Doug Chiang: The Production Design of Rogue One – The Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm, the Oscar-winning Chaing discusses designing the worlds of Rogue One. 4-5pm

Disney Parks & Star Wars Merchandise – For those like Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple love collecting Star Wars and Disney merchandise, this is the panel for you.  They will give us an insider look at the new merchandise coming to the parks in 2017 and 2018.  5:30-6:30pm

Meet the Celebration Art Show Artists – Each Celebration, a select few artists are picked to show off their Star Wars-inspired piece with prints to sell to the public.  We have purchased a piece by Lin Zy Busch. These panelists include Brian Miller, Stephen Hayford, Cryssy Cheung, and Jeff Carlisle. 7-8pm

Friday

Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Streamed from the Galaxy Stage.  Kathleen Kennedy and director Rian Johnson discuss Episode VIII. 11-12:30 pm

Designing the Lego Star Wars Galaxy – Legos gets more and more complicated each year especially with their Star Wars designs.  Now, you can learn about their process. 1-2pm

Star Wars Collectibles Update with Lucasfilm’s Brian Merten – Want to know what licensed partners of Lucasfilm are planning for their collectibles?  This is the panel for you.  This is high-end stuff, so I’m hoping Mrs. Nola Nerd Couple doesn’t know about this panel. 2:30-4pm

Lucasfilm Publishing Writers Roundtable – Some of the finest Star Wars authors will be ahving a discussion of their published works and their plans for their future in the franchise.  Panelists include Timothy Zahn, Beth Revis, Delilah Dawson, Charles Soule, Jody Houser, Michael Kogge, Ben Acker, and Ben Blacker. 4:30-5:30 pm

Abrams Books Presents: The Art of Star Wars – The authors of numerous art books about Star Wars discuss the works of the Lucasfilm art departments. 6-7pm

 

Saturday

Star Wars Rebels Season Four Sneak Peak – Streamed from the Galaxy stage.  Get a sneak peek into season four. 11am-12:30pm

Del Rey Books –  This publishing firm has been publishing Star Wars books for forty years. Panelists include Star Wars authors Chuck Wendig, Christie Golden, Timothy Zahn, and Delilah S. Dawson and moderated by Del Rey deiter Elizabeth Schaefer. 1-2pm

Behind the Scenes of the Cantina – Arguable Star Wars‘ most famous scene is dissected by the people who helped create it. 2:30-3:30pm

Marvel Comics Presents: Star Wars – Marvel and Star Wars are now under the Disney umbrella. Editor Jordan White and creators Phil Noto and Charles Soule discuss Marvel’s Star Wars titles and what is in store for upcoming Star Wars’ titles. 4-5pm

Hasbro Star Wars – Star Wars action figure makers, Hasbro, gives us a look at their upcoming series.  This is a must attend panel for toy collectors. 5:30-6:30pm

Inside Maz/s Castle: designing the Unknown in DK Star Wars Books – Get an inside look at DK Star Wars titles and find out how the authors and illustrators develop their works. 7-8pm

Sunday

Behind the Scenes with LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures – The producers of the show share how they make the show and let us know what is in store for the future. 11am-12pm

ESPN Presents Star Wars: Evolution of the Lightsaber Battle – This an airing of the ESPN documentary. 12:30-1:30pm

Star Wars Celebration Tattoo Competition – Come see some of the best inkwork and body art that feature Star Wars! 2-3:30pm

Celebration Orlando Closing Ceremony – This will be streamed from the Celebration and Galaxy stages. 4-5pm
