What are you good at?

As an educator and a dad, I take immense pride in my roles in the classroom and at home. These two parts of my life are deeply connected, and they shape who I am every single day.

A Passionate Educator Dedicated to Making a Difference

For over twenty years, I’ve been a teacher, guiding students in subjects ranging from history to computer science. Teaching isn’t just my job—it’s my calling. I believe in building strong relationships with my students, meeting them where they are, and creating an environment where they feel valued, challenged, and inspired.

One of my proudest accomplishments has been creating a diverse and inclusive computer science program, with over 50% female enrollment. In a traditionally male-dominated field, I’ve worked to break down barriers and show all students that they belong in STEM. It’s about more than just teaching a subject; it’s about empowering young people to see their potential and encouraging them to pursue their passions.

I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, including being named the 2023 Louisiana History Teacher of the Year and presenting at national conferences. But the real reward comes from the moments when I see a student succeed—whether it’s mastering a challenging concept, gaining confidence in themselves, or discovering a new passion. Those moments remind me why I do what I do.

Being a Proud Dad

At home, my greatest joy comes from being a dad to an incredible 7-year-old. Parenthood has been one of my most rewarding and humbling experiences. My child inspires me daily to see the world with fresh eyes, to embrace curiosity, and to find wonder in the little things.

Together with my wife, I’ve worked to create a home built on love, laughter, and exploration. Whether we’re discovering new places, reading bedtime stories, or playing the PlayStation together, I strive to be present and intentional in every moment. My role as a dad has shaped how I approach life—it’s taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of celebrating even the smallest milestones.

The Connection Between Teaching and Fatherhood

Being a dad and being a teacher aren’t separate parts of my life—they’re deeply intertwined. My experiences as a father help me connect with my students on a deeper level, knowing how important it is to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and provide encouragement. Similarly, my time in the classroom reminds me to approach parenting with empathy and understanding.

Both roles require me to lead with heart, to be adaptable, and to see the potential in every individual. Whether I’m helping a student discover a love for coding or encouraging my child to explore the world around them, my goal is always the same: to empower, to inspire, and to make a difference.

At the end of the day, being an educator and a dad isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. These roles define me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
