What is Nerdy Living?
You might be wondering, what exactly is Nerdy Living? For us, it’s about embracing the things that bring us joy and sharing them with others. It’s celebrating the small, nerdy moments in life—like introducing our daughter to Mo Willems’ hilarious books or debating which Star Wars character is the best teacher (spoiler: it’s Obi-Wan, but don’t tell Yoda).

New Orleans: Celebrating Life in the Crescent City
New Orleans isn’t just a city; it’s a character in our story. Even after traveling the world, we always find ourselves drawn back to its vibrant streets, soulful music, and unforgettable food. Whether we’re exploring famous graves in Metairie Cemetery or enjoying events like Hogs for the Cause, NOLA continues to inspire us.
Mrs. Nola Nerd has spent most of her life in the Greater New Orleans area. Although Mr. Nola Nerd grew up in Lafourche Parish and has never actually lived in New Orleans, he worked for three years in the New Orleans Parish Public Schools. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina led to the permanent closure of his school. He cherished every moment of that job, as it provided him with a deep understanding of the city, given that the school served students from all over New Orleans.
Why it matters: New Orleans is more than a backdrop or a place to visit; it’s part of who we are. We hope to inspire you to explore its magic, whether you’re visiting for the first time or discovering hidden gems. We live close enough to understand how the city works (and sometimes doesn’t). Even though we have been to Paris, London, and Rome, this city is still our favorite.
Parenting: Adventures in Family Life
Parenting in a nerdy household is an adventure all its own. From introducing our daughter to the joy of Mo Willems’ books to navigating Girl Scout events in City Park, we’re all about creating fun, meaningful moments.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously as parents. Our only goal is to raise a healthy child in both mind and body.
Why it matters: Family life can be chaotic, but it’s also full of wonder. We aim to share ideas and experiences that other families can connect with, helping you create your special memories.
Teaching: Learning Through a Nerdy Lens
As educators, we’re passionate about making learning engaging and meaningful. Whether it’s exploring primary sources in social studies or finding inspiration in Star Wars, we bring creativity and curiosity to the classroom.
Why it matters: Teaching isn’t just a job; it’s a way to inspire the next generation. We hope our experiences spark ideas for both educators and lifelong learners.
Living: Cooking, Creativity, and Daily Life
This category is where we share the little things that make up the big picture of our lives. In other words, this is where things go when they don’t quite fit anywhere else. But by including them, you may get a better understanding of who we are as people!
