Fan Expo New Orleans returns to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on January 10-12, 2025, with an expanding celebrity lineup that has us counting down the days. While our six-year-old might not share our exact fandoms, she loves going to Fan Expo because the organizers truly make it a family-friendly experience. It remains our favorite local convention!
We love getting other people excited about Fan Expo because we have always had a great time there. So today, let’s look at Fan Expo NOLA 2025: Celebrity & Kids Zone Updates!
The Star Wars universe arrives with Anthony Daniels, known worldwide as C-3PO. His theatrical storytelling style captivates audiences of all ages, making his panel a must-see event. Our daughter might not understand all the references, but Daniels’ engaging personality keeps even non-fans entertained. We’re hoping for more Star Wars guest announcements soon!
James Marsters joins us from the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Though our daughter’s too young for Buffy (firmly in the “when you’re older” category), his panels consistently rank among the most entertaining. His history with New Orleans conventions stretches back to the Wizard World era, and he never disappoints.
Doctor Who fans celebrate as Jodie Whittaker makes her Fan Expo New Orleans debut. While full episodes remain a future treat for our daughter, she already recognizes the TARDIS and loves the Doctor’s colorful costume. Adding the first female Doctor to our photo collection feels particularly special, and Whittaker’s energetic personality promises memorable interactions.
The convention also brings:

While we plan our celebrity meetings and panels, the Kids’ Zone remains the heart of our Fan Expo experience. The Aerial Space Squad’s lightsaber crafting station proves consistently popular – watching her deliberate over crystal colors and handle designs adds an extra layer of fun to our convention experience. When energy levels start dropping, we head to the U Cre-8 storytelling workshops or Joe Wos’s cartoon demonstrations for some quiet creative time.
Watching her face light up during the Kids’ Cosplay Red Carpet—whether participating or cheering others on—reminds us why Fan Expo New Orleans has become our family’s January tradition. Also, my inside source with the local 501st tells me they have a few more ideas to make their area even more kid-friendly. I’m not sure how since we spent an hour there last year!
Convention experience has taught us what works: morning photo ops, regular snack breaks, and balancing our fan interests with activities that keep a six-year-old engaged. The January timing gives us something to look forward to after the holidays.
