One of the things we love most about Fan Expo New Orleans is that the fun doesn’t end when the convention center lights dim. When Fan Expo comes to town, New Orleans responds the only way it knows how: by turning the entire city into an extension of the con. Some after‑hours events are official Fan Expo programming, while others happen simply because thousands of fans and creators are in town. That mix is what makes Fan Expo New Orleans feel uniquely NOLA.
After years of attending, covering, and planning Fan Expo weekends as a family, here’s our guide to the best after‑hours events happening during Fan Expo New Orleans 2026.
Fan Expo New Orleans After Hours Events for 2026
Fan Expo days are packed with panels, photo ops, autographs, cosplay, and Artist Alley finds. After‑hours events give fans a chance to slow down, connect, and experience fandom in a different way. They’re also a great opportunity to support artists, performers, and local venues that help make New Orleans such a special con city.
Whether you’re traveling with friends, going as a couple, or balancing fandom with family needs, there’s something happening after dark for every kind of fan.
Comics Xplosion
Friday, January 9 at 8:30 PM
Junebug
744 Camp St, New Orleans, LA 70130
Comics Xplosion is a high‑energy live art showdown hosted at Junebug, one of New Orleans’ newest atmospheric bars. Watch iconic comic artists go head‑to‑head as they bring fan‑favorite characters to life on canvas in real time.
When the creative dust settles, the artwork doesn’t just hang on the wall. You can actually purchase these one‑of‑a‑kind pieces and take home a true Fan Expo memory. This is a fantastic option for art lovers, collectors, and fans who want a more laid‑back but still exciting after‑hours experience.
Harajuku Night: The Official Fan Expo After Party

Harajuku Night is the official Fan Expo New Orleans after party, and it’s as colorful and energetic as you’d expect. Tokyo street fashion collides with New Orleans nightlife for a candy‑bright night of music, cosplay, and style.
Dance to high‑energy sets from Purikura Panic!!, Suzaku 7, and Sweet Supernova, and show off your best look in the cosplay contest hosted by Remy Domino and Beku.cos. If you’re looking for a high‑impact, high‑energy fandom party, this is the place to be.
Fun fact: Beku.cos is one of our former students and we love her to death…go!!!
School of Rock House Band
Saturday, January 10 at 8:00 PM
Theater 3 (Room 291)
The School of Rock House Band brings serious talent to Fan Expo’s official evening programming. Comprising the most dedicated and skilled students in the program, this elite group delivers a crowd‑pleasing set spanning classic pop and rock to modern chart‑toppers.
This is a great option for fans who want an energetic nighttime experience without leaving the convention center, and it’s especially family‑friendly compared to late‑night offsite events. It is also an amazing way to see firsthand the great work the School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans does, and to see what their students are capable of, whether you are a parent or a teen.
JunkGuy
Saturday, January 10 at 8:30 PM
The Red Carpet
All the way from the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, JunkGuy is a musical living statue with a backstory as wild as his performance. Crushed and reborn through mutant ooze and junk metal, his suit doubles as a musical instrument, producing raw, unforgettable sewer funk beats.
If you like your fandom strange, interactive, and impossible to ignore, JunkGuy is a must‑see.
Brainy Burlesque: Lord of the Rings Trivia
Saturday, January 10 from 7:00–9:00 PM
Room 286
Put your Middle‑earth knowledge to the test with Brainy Burlesque: Lord of the Rings Trivia. This clever event blends deep Tolkien lore with playful performance, wit, and theatrical flair.
It’s perfect for fans who know their lore inside and out and enjoy trivia experiences that go beyond pen‑and‑paper questions.
Anastasia: Mystic of New Orleans
Fan Expo Show Floor – Level 3
Not all Fan Expo experiences are loud or late, and Anastasia’s booth is a beautiful example of that. As a Spiritual Coach and Mystic, Anastasia offers guidance for those seeking clarity, grounding, or a moment of calm during a busy con weekend.
Visit her booth on Level 3 and walk away feeling centered, re‑energized, and ready for whatever the rest of Fan Expo brings.
Wooden Wisdom: Elijah Wood & Zach Cowie
Saturday, January 10, 2026
Doors at 10:00 PM | 18+
Republic NOLA
While not an official Fan Expo event, Wooden Wisdom is absolutely worth mentioning—especially with Elijah Wood appearing at Fan Expo New Orleans and Republic NOLA being our favorite venue in the city.
Wooden Wisdom is an all‑vinyl DJ experience featuring Elijah Wood and Zach Cowie, joined by Carmine P (Filthy & Crushed Velvet). Straight from the Shire to the turntables, this night promises deep cuts, vinyl‑only sets, and an intimate music‑focused fandom experience. At the Fan Expo event in Dallas, we got to listen to Elijah Wood talk about his record collection. We have around 900 records ourselves, and we felt like we were dilettantes compared to his knowledge of the records.
General admission and VIP tickets are available, with VIP offering expedited entry, mezzanine access, and exclusive bar and restroom access. For fans who love music culture, Lord of the Rings connections, and New Orleans nightlife, this is a perfect late‑night cap to a Fan Expo Saturday.
Final Fan Expo After‑Hours Tips
Plan ahead, because many events overlap and some require separate tickets. Check age limits before you go, pace yourself over the weekend, and don’t forget to hydrate—New Orleans con weekends are a marathon, not a sprint. See our Comic Con 101 series for more tips and tricks.
Fan Expo New Orleans after‑hours events are where fandom, creativity, and city culture truly collide. Whether you’re sketching art, dancing in cosplay, testing your Tolkien knowledge, or spinning vinyl late into the night, there’s no better place to experience fandom after dark than New Orleans.
