What We Cover
Nola Nerd Couple focuses on Disney adventures, fan conventions, and nerdy family life. The evolution of Nola Nerd Couple continues, and so will the blog.
Most posts now center on Disney travel and Disney Vacation Club experiences. We write about what works for families, how to plan smarter trips, and how to find learning moments in every adventure.
The rest of our content covers fan conventions such as Star Wars Celebration, Fan Expo New Orleans, and GalaxyCon, along with reflections on everyday nerdy living.
Everything we share connects our three pillars: family, fandom, and growth through travel.
What Readers Get
Readers come here for practical advice and honest experiences. We write for families and fans who want real guidance, not hype.
Our posts include planning tips, reflections, and lessons drawn from our lives as parents, teachers, and fans. We show how fandom and travel can teach creativity, patience, and curiosity.
Every article is written so you can apply what we’ve learned to your own Disney adventures, convention trips, or everyday family life.

The Evolution of Nola Nerd Couple
We started in 2011 as CookTravelEat.com, focusing on sharing our love of food and travel.
By 2015, most of that travel revolved around fan conventions, especially Star Wars Celebration. That shift led to the launch of Nola Nerd Couple, reflecting who we had become.
In 2018, our daughter was born, and we started writing more about nerdy parenting and how fandom has influenced our approach to raising her.
In 2025, after two unforgettable Disney trips, we joined the Disney Vacation Club, and we plan on making our Disney adventures the core of our blog.
Don’t worry, we still will cover fan conventions, nerdy lifestyle, and events in New Orleans.
Why We Keep Doing This
This site changes because we do. Each phase of life brings new interests, and the stories we tell follow that evolution.
We write to help other families and fans travel better, learn more, and make the most of every moment. Our posts exist to share what’s real and what works, not staged content or sponsorships.
Our Values
Family – Every story starts with time together.
Authenticity – We share only what we’ve experienced ourselves or previews of what we will experience.
Curiosity – Learning happens everywhere, from parks to conventions.
Respect – Every creator, fan, and community deserves credit.
Inclusivity – Fandom welcomes everyone.
Passion – This has never been a business; it’s pure love for what we do.
Why It Matters
Since 2011, the evolution of Nola Nerd Couple has reflected who we are. It is our passion project. We haven’t made money from it. We run ads only in the hopes of offsetting the costs of hosting and other things.
We write because the blog captures our passions as they evolve — food, travel, fandom, parenting, and now Disney adventures.
In fact, this blog is the story of us. Our real audience is our daughter.
Our journey shows how family life and fandom can grow together. The evolution of Nola Nerd Couple continues with every new trip, every new lesson, and every reader who travels along with us.
Quick FAQs
What is the evolution of Nola Nerd Couple?
We started as CookTravelEat, moved into convention coverage, added nerdy parenting, and now focus on Disney adventures. Every stage shows how fandom, travel, and family learning connect.
Why is Disney the main focus now?
After two trips in 2025, we joined the Disney Vacation Club. Disney adventures combine travel, storytelling, and learning in ways that fit our family best, so most of our posts now explore that world.
Do you still cover conventions and other fandom topics?
Yes. A significant portion of our content remains focused on fan conventions and everyday nerdy living. Fandom is where Nola Nerd Couple began, and it remains part of our identity. In fact, the little one and Mom are working through Harry Potter right now.
Are you sponsored or paid by Disney or any convention?
We are not currently sponsored or paid by Disney or any convention. If opportunities arise that genuinely align with our interests, we will consider them. However, we will always be transparent about any relationships or support we receive as we can. We also don’t moonlight as travel advisors.
This is an independent blog that costs more to run than it earns. Profit has never been the goal. We continue to share our story and learn through fandom, travel, and family life.
Who writes Nola Nerd Couple?
Two teachers from the New Orleans area who travel, parent, and learn together through fandom. We write every article ourselves. Our kid, who is the definition of an extrovert and loves the idea of this blog, sometimes helps with social media. It will probably be sooner than later that she starts writing for it as well.
What can readers gain from your blog?
Practical Disney travel tips, advice for fan conventions, and reflections on family life through fandom. We help readers make their own adventures meaningful.
Why call it a passion project?
Because that is what it is. Nola Nerd Couple began and continues as a labor of love. It captures our shifting passions in travel, fandom, parenting, and Disney adventures.
We are not opposed to earning money or receiving benefits that align with our existing work. If a sponsorship, partnership, or media accreditation aligns with our values and makes sense, we are open to it.
Still, this site will always be independent. We will never create content just for the sake of filling space or chasing profit. The goal is to tell our story honestly, even if it means we make a few dollars or gain a cool experience along the way.
What is next for Nola Nerd Couple?
The story of the evolution of Nola Nerd Couple is still being written. Mr. NNC is nearing retirement, and our little one is almost a tween. That means new adventures and new kinds of stories are waiting just ahead.
As our family changes, so will the blog. We may lean into slower travel, more Disney experiences, or something completely unexpected. Like good Pokémon, we keep evolving, not into something different, but into the next version of ourselves.
Whatever comes next, this space will stay honest, curious, and grounded in the same love for family and fandom that started it all.
