Our Picks for Monday Panels at Star Wars Celebration Chicago

Very few cons go into Mondays. Well, at least not a Monday that doesn’t coincide with a holiday. I’ve seen quite a few posts on social media with people stating they have flights on Monday during the day. We have no idea what kind of crowds to expect. We do expect great panels. So, here are our picks for the Monday panels at Star Wars Celebration Chicago.

The Phantom Menace 20th Anniversary Celebration

I’m 45. I’m supposed to be part of that generation that hates The Phantom Menace. I saw A New Hope before it was called A New Hope. While it’s far from a perfect film, The Phantom Menace doesn’t have any real flaws. Jar Jar and Young Anikan never bothered me. Also, this was the first time we really could see what Jedi (and Sith) were capable of. The effects allowed Lucas to get his true vision on the screen. Its a popcorn movie from start to finish. If you can’t have fun watching The Phantom Menace, you are no fun to be around. This is the one panel of the entire weekend that I want to see above all else.

11:00-12:00 Celebration stage streamed to the Galaxy Stage,

Star Wars Celebration Tattoo Competiton.

I don’t have a write up for this one. The name says it all.

12:15-1:15 Twin Suns Stage

Short Stories with Warwick Davis

Warwick Davis is a treasure. He is an entertaining storyteller. He has also played more roles in the Star Wars universe than anyone else. And after a full weekend of hosting the Celebration Stage, it’s right that he takes the center of the stage and be celebrated himself.

1:30-2:30 pm Celebration Stage

The Mythology of Star Wars: Behind the Facts and Fiction

Well, the Closing Ceremony is at the same time as this panel. So this is my underdog pick. I mean who doesn’t love a good dissecting of myth and Star Wars.

3:45-4:30 Star Wars University Stage

What panels will you attend on Monday?

Here are our picks for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Kurt Hargis

I'm a husband to a woman who is nerdier than I am, and a father to a near perfect child. I am one of the main authors for this website, plus I handle most of the technical aspects (web design, editing podcasts, and videos, etc.) During the day, I'm a Computer Science and African American Studies Teacher. Most of my free time I'm listening to music or podcasts and watching soccer. I love Star Wars and Star Trek equally. I'm a horrible gamer yet I game. You can reach me at nolanerdcouple@gmail.com
