Mississippi Comic Con and Historical Jackson

Looking forward to our Epic Summer Road Trip

Embarking on a journey to my wife’s birthplace in Ohio this June, our family’s adventure starts at the Mississippi Comic Con and historical Jackson. This convention is shaping up to be one where our little one has a great day with many guests tailored to her specific fandoms. Plus, we will sneak in a little history by going to a few key historical sites while we are in Mississippi’s capital. This family adventure at the Mississippi Comic Con and historical Jackson will be the start of a much larger multistate road trip.

Featured Guests Our Daughter Is Excited to Meet At Mississippi Comic Con

Tom Kenny – The voice behind the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants, Tom Kenny’s work has been a staple in our home, bringing laughter and joy. His ability to bring characters to life with his voice is remarkable, and the chance for our daughter to see the man behind SpongeBob is incredibly exciting. We have met Mr. Kenny before, and he’s a great con guest. We caught him at the end of the day, and surprisingly, he was very talkative, especially once he found out the name of our blog. He talked for a good while about New Orleans and especially the Ponderosa Stomp.

Booboo Stewart – Known for his role as Jay in “Descendants,” Booboo Stewart has captured the hearts of fans around the world, including our daughter’s. Her admiration for the “Descendants” series and her love for Stewart’s character makes meeting him a highlight of the convention for her. This girl can sing along to every song. In fact, one day, we caught her talking, all upset. She wasn’t upsetting, she was acting out the beginning of the “Queen of Mean.” When she discovered that there was an Audrey Halloween costume, she had to have it. I can almost guarantee she will be the Queen of Mean to meet Mr. Stewart, one of her favorite heroes…I mean villains.

Alan Tudyk – With a diverse career, Alan Tudyk’s role as Valentino’s voice in “Wish” particularly resonates with our daughter. Her favorite stuffed animal, a replica of Valentino, accompanies her to sleep every night, making Tudyk’s presence at the convention especially meaningful.

Other Noteworthy Guests

While our daughter has her favorites, the Mississippi Comic Con features a lineup that appeals to a broad audience.

Jon Heder— Best known for his role in Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder has become a cult icon. Fans appreciate his unique blend of humor and relatability, which makes him a popular figure at conventions.

Kevin Nash — A legend in the wrestling world, Kevin Nash is a larger-than-life figure. I love wrestling, so I’m hoping to meet him myself.

Vicki Lawrence – With a career spanning several decades, Vicki Lawrence is beloved for her work on “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mama’s Family.” Her comedic timing and versatility make her a must-see for fans of classic television comedy.

Steve Downes — Known as the voice of Master Chief from the Halo video game series, Steve Downes is a hero to gamers. His participation will bring a piece of gaming history to the convention, exciting fans of the franchise.

Tom Wilson – Recognizable as Biff Tannen from the “Back to the Future” series, Tom Wilson’s role in this iconic trilogy has left a lasting impact on pop culture. Fans of the films look forward to hearing his insights and experiences from working on such a seminal project.

Historical Jackson

After the excitement of the Comic Con, we plan to explore some of Jackson’s historical sites. The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum (walking distance from the convention) and the home of Medgar Evers are on our list. Yes, we love going to conventions, but we also love learning about the city where the convention is being held. The last time we attended the Mississippi convention, we spent the afternoon at the Mississippi Ag Museum. It was an amazing experience and one we highly recommend.

After Our Family Adventure at Mississippi Comic Con and Historical Jackson

After having fun and learning in Jackson, we will start the drive to Ohio. We have lots of stuff planned on the trip, like eating BBQ in Memphis, visiting Lincoln’s birthplace, and going to Cedar Point amusement park. More importantly, we are looking forward to making memories!
