We aim to create a welcoming space for fans to explore their passions and connect with like-minded individuals.

  • Inclusive Community: We celebrate diversity in fandoms, welcoming everyone from Star Wars enthusiasts to Marvel fans and anime lovers.
  • Lifelong Learning: Fandom is about more than fun; it’s a gateway to curiosity, creativity, and personal growth. Therefore, we love to highlight how geek culture can inspire both kids and adults.
  • Diversity in Pop Culture: From indie comics to blockbuster franchises, we embrace the variety that makes fandoms so special and unites fans worldwide.
  • Fun and Adventure: Above all, we believe that fandom is about joy, exploration, and creating lasting memories with the people you love.

Why Inspiring Nerdy Families Matters

Fandom can be a powerful force for connection, creativity, and learning. For us, inspiring nerdy families means encouraging parents and kids to embrace their interests, try new things, and find community.

Whether it’s building a Star Wars Lego set, reading comics together, or traveling to a convention, these experiences help families bond and grow. We believe every family deserves to feel welcomed in the world of pop culture.

As parents, we have seen our child connect with other people just based on our experiences in the fandom community. She shows interest, which inspires learning—even when it means checking to see how to spell Elphaba when her teacher isn’t looking. (Her aunt overheard her telling her cousin, lol.)

What We Do

At Nola Nerd Couple, we make it easy for families to enjoy fandom. Here’s how we can help:

  • Real-World Convention Reviews and Guides: We have attended Comic-Cons in New Orleans and Orlando to Star Wars Celebrations in Chicago and Anaheim. This means we share detailed reviews and tips from a family perspective.
  • Fandom Event Tips: Whether it’s your first Comic-Con or you’ve been to many, we give pratical advice. Our tips help everyone, young or old, have a good time at any convention or event.
  • Nerdy Parenting and Teaching Adventures: We are parents and teachers who love nerdy things. We show you how to add geek fun to daily life, at home and in the classroom.
  • Travel Stories: We tell stories about our trips—from New Orleans to London and more. Fandom takes us to cool places, and we share the best food, sights, and fun things we find.
  • Comic-Con 101: Our beginner-friendly guides help you navigate conventions with ease, from planning cosplay schedules to finding the best panels and exhibitors.

TL;DR: Inspring Nerdy Families

What does “Inspiring Nerdy Families” mean to us?

For us, it’s about helping families of all kinds embrace their love of pop culture together—whether that’s attending conventions, cosplaying, or just enjoying nerdy adventures at home. We want to make fandom accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone

Is this site just for parents?

Nope! While we share lots of family-focused tips and stories, anyone who loves fandom—parents, kids, couples, or solo nerds—will find something here.

Do you have tips for taking kids to conventions?

Definitely! We’ve learned a lot about making Comic-Cons and fan events enjoyable for all ages. Check out our convention guides for packing lists, kid-friendly activities, and advice on creating a great experience for everyone.

What if our family is new to fandom?

You’re in the right place. We believe everyone can be a nerd about something! Our guides and stories are designed for beginners as well as lifelong fans. We are also always discovering new fandoms ourselves!

How do you choose which conventions to attend?

We look for events that are welcoming to families, offer diverse programming, and celebrate the things we love—comics, sci-fi, fantasy, games, and more. We also share honest reviews of every event we attend. While we tend to go to cons a day’s drive away, we love exploring the world as well!

Can I share my own nerdy story?

Absolutely! We love hearing from other families and fans. If your writing fits in with our mission, we would love to have you as a guest blogger.
