Mississippi Comic Con 2025 With Kids

If you’re a parent like me, you probably wonder if big events like comic cons are actually a good fit for younger kids. After taking my daughter to meet Tom Kenny (the voice of SpongeBob) at last year’s event, I’ve had a lot of friends ask if we’ll be back. The answer is yes—I think Mississippi Comic Con 2025 with kids is absolutely worth considering if you’re searching for a fun and safe day out. Here’s what we experienced, and what you can expect if you’re thinking about going in 2025.

Our 2024 Mississippi Comic Con Experience

My wife and I have done Mississippi Comic Con before, but last year was our seven-year-old daughter’s first time—and she was beyond excited. I’ll admit, I spent four hours in line so she could meet Tom Kenny (the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants), but seeing her face light up made every minute worth it.

While I held our spot, my wife and daughter set out to explore the rest of the con together. They played games, shopped for fun collectibles, and even met Booboo Stewart from Descendants.

The whole time, they felt completely safe, and whenever they needed anything, a staff member was nearby and happy to help. It made the whole experience stress-free for us as parents.

By the end of the day, we were all tired but couldn’t stop talking about everything we’d seen and done. If you’re wondering whether Mississippi Comic Con 2025 withkids is a good idea, I can honestly say our family had a fantastic time last year—and we’re looking forward to doing it all over again.

Ok, maybe not dad doing all the waiting in line, but yeah we are excited!

Kid-Friendly Guests at Mississippi Comic Con 2025

One of the best things about Mississippi Comic Con is how many of the celebrity guests are recognizable to kids (and to us parents, too). This years guests aimed at little ones include:

  • Wallace Shawn (Rex from Toy Story, Vizzini from The Princess Bride)
  • Ray Park (Darth Maul from Star Wars)
  • Jim Cummings (the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Ray from The Princess and the Frog)
  • Blake Foster (Power Rangers)
  • Plus a whole lineup of top voice actors

Based on the guest list this year, I’m confident that Mississippi Comic Con 2025 with kids will keep bringing in names your kids will actually know and get excited about. If your child is into cartoons, superheroes, or animated movies, there’s a good chance they’ll find something (or someone) to geek out over.

What to Expect at Mississippi Comic Con 2025 with Kids

Of course, there’s more to Mississippi Comic Con 2025 than just celebrity autographs and photo ops. They have tons of programming! Here’s what I’m most looking forward to as a parent:

  • Kids’ Costume Contest: There’s a special cosplay contest just for kids under 10. I love how supportive the crowd is—every kid gets their moment on stage, no matter what they’re wearing. While they do give awards according to the website, this is one area where I think a participant trophy is enough.
  • Panels and Q&As: Many of the panels are all-ages and give kids a chance to ask questions or learn more about their favorite shows and characters.
  • Game Rooms: From classic board games to the latest video games, game rooms are great places for kids to take a break and make new friends.
  • Vendors and Artists: There’s always a ton of merch, and lots of local artists who do custom sketches or commissions. Just be ready to set a budget before you hit the vendor floor!

Beyond the Con

Jackson, MS, is an easy drive from the New Orleans area, which makes Mississippi Comic Con 2025 a perfect day trip. If you decide to stay the weekend, check out the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum. It’s full of hands-on exhibits, a recreated 1920s “Small Town, Mississippi,” and an old-fashioned general store. We went before we had our daughter and had an amazing time and learned a lot ourselves.

What Parents Need to Know Before Heading to Mississippi Comic Con 2025 with Kids

As a dad, I’m all about knowing the details before we commit to a big day out, especially with a kid in tow. Here’s what I’ve learned about the logistics for the Mississippi Comic Con and cons in general over the years, so that you can plan a stress-free trip.

When and Where Is It?

Mississippi Comic Con 2025 runs from June 20th through 22nd at the Mississippi Trade Mart and Coliseum in Jackson. Both connected buildings are part of the event, and there’s plenty of parking onsite. For families driving in, the address is 1200 Mississippi Street, Jackson, MS 39202.

Can You Leave and Come Back?

Absolutely. Once you get your wristband, you can come and go as you need. This is a game-changer if you’ve got little ones who might need a nap, a snack run, or just a breather outside. Just don’t take the wristband off, or you’ll need to get a new one.

How Do Autographs and Photo Ops Work?

Meeting a celebrity is a big deal for kids (and let’s be honest, for us parents, too). If you want an autograph or a professional photo, those are paid extras, and lines for the most popular guests can get long. A tip: autographs usually allow for a little more interaction, while photo ops are quick but make for a great keepsake. Practice what your kids will say with your kids beforehand.

Also, most celebrity guests have a soft spot for little ones. Last year, at the Mississippi Comic Con, both Booboo Stewart and Tommy Kenny focused on them and took the time to listen to them. They both talked to her and not at her. At Fan Expo New Orleans, our little one asked Andy Serkis to do the Gollum voice. It was a magical moment for all of us!

Are Panels and Q&As Free?

Yes! All the panels and Q&A sessions are included with your admission, so there’s no extra charge. These are a great way for kids to hear stories from their favorite actors or ask questions, and you don’t have to worry about budgeting for every activity. And when they get bored, they are kids after all, go somewhere else!

What Else Is There for Kids?

There’s a lot more than just celebrity guests. You’ll find tabletop gaming, video game setups, an old-school arcade, photo ops, and plenty of fan groups doing meetups and activities. My daughter loves the gaming rooms, and there’s always something new to check out.

Can You Bring a Bag?

Yes, and I highly recommend it. Whether you’re packing snacks, wipes, or a change of clothes, you can bring a backpack—know it’ll be checked at the door each time you enter. It’s a small price for peace of mind. Backpacks are also a great way to store items you purchased.

By the way, even if you don’t have kids, bring wet wipes and hand sanitizer.

Tickets and Payments

You can buy tickets online ahead of time (highly recommended for any convention) or at the door. Both cash and cards are accepted at the entrance and the official merch booth, but most celebrity guests only take money for autographs, and some vendors are cash-only, too. There are ATMs on-site if you need them. Budget ahead of time and have a talk with your kids about what they can expect to walk away with.
