When I heard New Orleans was hosting another comic convention, I was intrigued. When I learned it would take place in the summer, I got even more excited—because in New Orleans, we’re always looking for fun, indoor activities to beat the heat. But when I realized it was GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025, I knew this was an event my family couldn’t miss.
As a fan of comic cons, I always hope new conventions in our area succeed. They’re some of our favorite family-friendly events. That’s why I was thrilled to hear this upcoming event is part of the GalaxyCon series, a well-established name in the world of pop culture conventions.
We follow a lot of cons and people that attend or who appear at GalaxyCon events. Every report is so positive from these events that we know it is a well run con. And having it in the middle of summer, 6 months away from the other major con in New Orleans, Fan Expo, makes for perfect timing.
Since its launch in 2006, GalaxyCon has grown into a nationwide success, hosting events across the country and consistently attracting incredible celebrity guests and large, enthusiastic crowds. Although GalaxyCon New Orleans is a brand-new addition to their lineup—and we haven’t personally attended a GalaxyCon event yet—I’m confident it will live up to the hype. Based on the official details shared so far, it’s shaping up to be a can’t-miss experience for fans of all ages.
Here’s everything you need to know about GalaxyCon New Orleans and why it’s the ultimate summer event for families who love pop culture, gaming, and cosplay.

What is GalaxyCon New Orleans?
GalaxyCon is a multi-genre celebration that unites fans of comics, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, and more.
The event will run from July 11-13, 2025 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The event runs for three jam-packed days, with extended hours to ensure you don’t miss a thing:
- Friday: 2 PM to 2 AM
- Saturday: 10 AM to 2 AM
- Sunday: 10 AM to 8 PM
For families, GalaxyCon New Orleans isn’t just about fandoms—it’s about creating memories. Kids can meet their heroes, parents can relive their favorite pop culture moments, and everyone can step into a world of imagination.
That doesn’t mean if you are a solo nerd, you shouldn’t go! Fan conventions like this are for everyone, and it doesn’t take long to run into someone you know or a group with similar interests. It is a welcoming indoor event in the middle of summer.
It is exactly what New Orleans needs!
Celebrity Guests: Meet Your Heroes
One of the best parts of any convention is meeting celebrity guests, and GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025 boasts an impressive lineup of stars. The guest list includes fan favorites like:

- Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter series)
- LeVar Burton (Star Trek: The Next Generation)
- Matt Ryan (Constantine)
- Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show)
- Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian)
- John Barrowman (Doctor Who, Arrow)
Some personal highlights for us include:
- Phil LaMarr (voice actor from Star Wars: The Clone Wars)—a must-meet for me!
- Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid)—a treat for my daughter.
- Patricia Summersett (the voice of Princess Zelda).
- Joey Fatone (Broadway star and former N’SYNC member), whom my daughter knows from his performance in “& Juliet.” She only knows N’SYNC from Trolls. To her, he is a Broadway star! (And he is!!!)
Pro tip: Autographs and photo ops for many guests are already available for purchase, so book early to secure your spot!
Family-Friendly Features

One of the things I love most about GalaxyCon New Orleans is its focus on family-friendly fun. The event includes:
- A Family Zone, where kids can relax, enjoy crafts, and participate in sensory-friendly activities.
- A Cosplay Lounge, providing a space to showcase costumes, take photos, and recharge away from the bustling crowds.
For even more magic, families can enjoy photo ops with iconic movie props or meet costumed fan groups like Stormtroopers. The organizers have clearly gone out of their way to ensure the event is inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for fans of every generation.

Activities for Nerdy Families
GalaxyCon offers something for everyone, whether you’re into comics, gaming, or anime. Here are some highlights:
Exhibit Hall: Shop for rare comics, collectibles, and custom art. Pro tip: Set a budget beforehand—there’s so much to tempt you!
Panels and Workshops: Dive into comic creator panels, anime workshops, and Q&A sessions with industry experts. If attending a celebrity panel, read our tips on asking celebrities questions on a panel that will get them talking!
Gaming Zones: Bond as a family with tabletop games, video game tournaments, or even a thrilling D&D campaign.
Tips for Making the Most of GalaxyCon
To ensure your family has a great time, here are some helpful tips:
- Plan: Check the event schedule and highlight your must-see panels or meet-and-greets. When they post the schedule, we will report on it here, including what we are most interested in!
- Dress Comfortably: Wear comfy shoes—you’ll be walking a lot!
- Pack Smart: Bring quiet activities for younger kids, and keep snacks handy (while adhering to the venue’s food rules).
- Explore Nearby Dining Options: The Convention Center is surrounded by great restaurants if you want to take a break.
- Prepare for Crowds: The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is spacious, but conventions can still get crowded. If you’re bringing a stroller, be aware that it may be hard to navigate during peak times and all day Saturday. (Read our ComicCon-ing 101 entry on how not to get overwhelmed by large crowds).
Accessibility is also a priority at the venue, with ramps, elevators, and mobility scooter rentals available. Rest assured, GalaxyCon has taken steps to make the event as inclusive as possible.
